The GLCUSBC is proud to introduce Storm Products Incorporated as the equipment sponsor for the 2022-2023 bowling season. The bowling ball raffles are popular at our association events and will now feature the Storm voucher program. The winner of each raffle will have the opportunity to order directly from Storm and have the ball of their choice delivered directly to them! This increase is at the National level from $13 to $15. This increase was approved at the 2016 Annual Convention (before the merger) capping at $15, with no increase for 2016-2017 season, and increase to $13 for 2017-2018 and no further increase for 5 years. This brings us to 2022-2023 season raising to $15 at the National level. At the state level, there has been no increase and will remain $2. At the local level fees will remain at $10. USBC modifies rules to help allow a return to competitive bowling
The USBC Board of Directors approved waivers and modifications to USBC Playing Rules to allow certified leagues and tournaments more flexibility to return to bowling while adhering to guidelines related to COVID-19. The USBC Board has rescinded the changes made to USBC rules in 2019-2020, which were instituted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Aug. 1, 2022, the following rule changes will be in effect: Rule 18 – Bowlers will no longer be allowed to use isopropyl alcohol to clean a bowling ball once competition has started. Rules 113a and 113b – The use of two lanes immediately adjoining each other will again be required to be used for league competition. Rules 320a and 320b - The use of two lanes immediately adjoining each other will again be required to be used for tournament competition. Our current Association manger, Michael Jacobs, will not be renewing his contact to hold this position when his contact ends with the 2021-2022 season that ends July 31, 2022.
Donna comes to this position with a lifetime of bowling in our area as well as a family with generations of bowlers. Donna's professional experience in Accounting, recently retired, will be a great asset to our association. Please welcome Donna next time you see her on the lanes! The GLCUSBC Board has approved three bylaws proposals the association membership who attend the annual meeting will be voting on. These bylaws change will be used to govern the operation of the local association. Final Averages League Secretaries, please let me know if you want me to send you your league's final average report via email or snail mail has to be made. Forward your request to me here at Greaterlakecountyusbc@gmail.com. Reminder: All final averages must be submitted to the local association within 15 days of the completion of your season! If you need an updated league membership roster to review who you have collected membership fees from this season I can send you this report. Summer Leagues I will be printing up membership cards next week and distributing these to the local centers soon. If you are building a new summer league or resuming leagues dropped before COVID let me know. Please circulate this next information throughout your league for the membership. The Annual Meeting for the GREATER LAKE COUNTY USBC BOWLING ASSOCIATION will be held on SATURDAY, MAY 21, 2022, at LAKES BOWL, 601 RAILROAD AVE., ROUND LAKE, ILLINOIS. This meeting is the only Public Access forum for the GLC board and membership. The proceedings include elections of your local board, bylaws that govern your local association, and a town hall for our memberships questions to learn more about the sport of bowling and your local association.
